incase you're wondering!

Ok so not much has been going on here for a little while. Since I'm sitting around waiting for a job to fall into my lap, I thought I'd focus on getting my art better. I'll be going back to roots, working a lot on anatomy and form, working my way up to some more colouring and shading stuff later on, as well as methods of crossing over digital/traditional etc etc.

Basically this journal is more for my own benefit than anything, thinking out loud as it were. But it's also here to let you know more CRACK will be coming, once I've spent some time relearning these basics, as it were.

If anything comes out of it thats worth showing I'll posty post.

Hello guys!

A fair amount has happened since we last spoke. I finished uni, moved home, sorted out my shit, and now am working on CRACK issue 2. I'm looking for some steady work, and a bit of temporary "massive" work has come in, which will begin on monday. I'm also working on an e-commerce webiste for my godfather, which has been helping my financial situation a lot! I've had to learn everything for the site from scratch, but now I know a heckuva lot of css, php, xhtml, sql, etcetc. With this I've finally made [link] look respectable. Go on, have a look! My videos are up there on the index page, and they're way better quality than the dA system.

I also recently joined "Thorns", an RP forum run by :iconthundercake:
I've only been there a week, but already I'm having a lot of fun. If you're into creative writing, or you RP often, you might enjoy it too! I currently play an ex drug-lord turned doctor called Ivan.

Something I tried out recently was advertising on dA for translators for CRACK. If you check my site, you can see the german version of issue 1 is already up (translated by the mighty Daniel Golle). I'm working on the french version at the moment with :iconechidna1369: and I've been contacted by people willing to do spanish, portugese, italian, hindi and japanese, so it's pretty exciting! I'll mention here when other versions are up, and if you know anyone who prefers to read in one of the listed languages and likes gross comics about self absorbed assholes, link them up please!

WHAT YEAR IS IT? WHO'S THE PRESIDENT? ARRRGH!

Hello! It's been a little while, and not because things have been slow. I worked my ass off getting "40 feet under" done, and I got two exams coming up. Of course, after that, I'm DONE WITH EDUCATION FOREVER, which is a plus.

THERE WAS BLOOD

I fought in a bloody duel with a litre of fake blood, made of a mixture of hot water, gravy granules, cornflour and a careful mix of food dyes. We bloodied up approximately £40 worth of charity shop clothes, and the evidence is now on youtube:

[link]

it's all very blue, probably cause we didn't white balance, but you get the idea.
I'm thinking of turning it into a charity event - using a different, washable blood recipe, everyone goes out, buys some charity shop clothes, bloodies them up in a big gorefest, washes them, returns them. We have fun, they get a wad of cash. Simple!

40 FEET UNDER

40 feet under is the name of my zombies underground project I've been rumbling about for a while now. It's finally finished and can be seen here:

[link]

Let me know what you think!

I can't post it on dA (at least not yet) because of the soundtrack. I've asked bandai for permission to use the track, we'll see what they say I guess.

UK WEB MINI COMIX THING

The thing '08 was my first convention experience with a table and I really enjoyed it. The copies Luke's dad printed entirely for free went like hotcakes (especilly with my mercenary secret agent minions interrogating punters and convincing them they wanted it forcibly inserted in their anuses).
I split the table price with Jodie of [link] and together with our entirely disparate styles, we confused the entire of east london into stunned submission.

Props goes to Oliver Lambden of modern monstrosity. He was one of the victims of my marketing assault, and actually rather enjoyed the experience in a sort of masochistic way. He featured CRACK on his blog here: [link]

- much love! He also runs a comic stall in camden: [link] where I believe he is stocking a few of the surplus copies of CRACK issue 1.

Last thing to mention is a tasty b/w comic he's involved in called "tales from the flat", with a SPACED style humor and setting. Here! [link]

TOKYO GONZO

Another project by a comic friend is "tokyo gonzo". It's made by Dan Cox, who works in the same building I do at uni, and the project is currently being put through it's pre-production paces at dimestoreproductions' small press idol: [link]

votes are appreciated!

CRACK

Issue 2 is well on it's way, and pages will start appearing as soon as my exams are over (May 29th). I've been talking to some friends around europe and plans are in the works for german and french versions of CRACK! I also have contacts who could probably convert it into a decent spanish version. If you are fluent at english and a language that's under represented, please do contact me! I would love to be able to do italian, chinese and japanese too if I can - we'll see how things pan out.

ORGAN WOMAN

Will be posting the final renders and stuff of organ woman too - seems that that's slipped through the cracks somewhat while getting these projects done. Maybe I'll even have enough time to make her a bit better than the admittedly rushed deadline version.

MASSIVE

At the moment I'm trying to gather interest in a free-to-all massive software (crowd sim) support forum, aimed at students and the like, as well as possibly generating some tutorial videos on some of the more complex brain stuff that can be achieved.

and finally!

CLUEDOG

props to cluedog for a 'lil journal feature a couple of weeks back. Check out his comics and his trans-anthorpomorphogenderificationabolismic artwork! :iconcluedog:

Talk to you guys soon!

convention-eru!!!

Mon Mar 17, 2008, 12:03 PM
Well guys it looks like I'm going to have 50 copies of issue 1 of CRACK in print form tomorrow at 10am, courtesy of Luke's (housemate) awesome dad and his awesome printer. I don't even have to pay for the print or paper, just the delivery! Fantastic.

This also means that I can sell 'em fairly cheaply at the convention, so hopefully I can get rid of the ones that aren't reserved for friends that say "can I have one?" and spread the word.

Also will have 20 posters of me dripping with...milk.
[link]

Finished my dogfighting AI project. They don't really dogfight but I've made most of the bits you need to get that working. Alongside it I produced 5 hours of "massive" training videos, so if you're interested in learning some advanced AI stuff, drop me a line.

Organ monster is coming along, got her skinned and currently I'm rigging.
Had the bloodfight! Currently dealing with the footage, but I should have some fun shots of me in a nightie caked in blood. I should get a youtube account really.

Weeell that's enough of looking at a hole in my back.

I have a table at a convention! (well, half a table). I'm like a real fake comic artist now! Well, half a real fake comic artist. Gotta start somewhere, right?

[link]

This means I need to finish up to around 28 pages of CRACK by mid february (errr....)

Lets recap what's happened so far!
-I've woken up
-I've met a naked man
-I've been pursued by a ninja in a suit
-I've been perturbed by a mysterious typewriter named oswald
-I've had breakfast semen-flakes and lowered the tone significantly.

Hoorah! Will accept encouragement in order to gain oomph to finish 10 pages in 2 weeks...

In other projects news...
I am slowly getting my mocap back! It's looking pretty sweet. I'll probably get a youtube account soon so I can show some of my progress. I also modeled my first 3D head, which I will also post at some point. My massive project is slooowly coming along as I have cracked my matrix algebra problem and got world space working (don't ask). If all goes to plan I should have AI planes flying around trying to kill eachother. Sweeeet.

So, a lot of progress, none of which you can see...yet. Oh also will be buying shitloads of clothes from a charity shop and then having a bloodfight soon. Should be awesome fun!
